The Comú d’Ordino has announced the 34th Gastronomic Showcase of Andorra and the Pyrenees, set to take place on 7 and 8 November. This year, the event will highlight turrón, a traditional Spanish nougat, and will include the participation of a French restaurant for the first time.

The 34th Gastronomic Showcase of Andorra and the Pyrenees will take place on 7 and 8 November, featuring a diverse array of culinary experiences and the participation of around twenty restaurateurs. This year, the event will focus on turrón, a traditional Spanish confection made from almonds and honey, which will be the guest product.

One of the notable additions to this year's showcase is the inclusion of a French restaurant, La Chaumière from Font-Romeu, marking the first time a French establishment has participated. This addition enhances the cross-border nature of the event, which aims to unite gastronomic offerings from Andorra and various regions of the Pyrenees.

Among the participants is the Michelin-starred Fonda Xesc from Gombrèn, representing the Ripollès region. Maria del Mar Coma, the head councillor of Ordino, emphasised the importance of the showcase in connecting territories through cuisine, stating, "The Gastronomic Showcase of Andorra and the Pyrenees has established itself with a broad cross-border projection, integrating a common territorial identity through cooking."

The event will maintain its format of a grand tasting, with a single entry price allowing attendees to sample dishes from numerous restaurateurs, primarily from Andorra, but also from Catalonia and France. The showcase aims to blend familiar participants with new offerings, enriching the gastronomic experience.

Family-friendly elements and a strong connection to the local territory are key features of the event. The programming will include the Gastrolab, located in La Buna, serving as a space for culinary education and experimentation. Workshops and tastings will be available on both Saturday and Sunday, catering to various audiences and featuring renowned professionals.

On Saturday morning, chef and culinary educator Ada Parellada will lead two workshops, followed by an activity hosted by influencer Sara Martínez in the afternoon. Additionally, there will be a tasting workshop dedicated to turrón, led by Alexis Estopiñán, and a wine tasting with Casus Belli. On Sunday, the Gastrolab will continue its activities for children, offering sweet and savoury workshops designed to engage young participants in a fun and interactive way.

Another established feature of the showcase is the Gourmet Hall, an artisan food market that will this year be located in the main square of Ordino. The market will host around ten stalls dedicated to high-quality gastronomic products, allowing visitors to discover, taste, and purchase local delicacies. Musical entertainment will also be included to create a lively atmosphere in the heart of the parish.

The head councillor highlighted the evolution of the showcase over the years, noting the addition of the Gourmet Hall and the Gastrolab as complementary formats that enhance the overall experience beyond the main tasting event. She also expressed gratitude to the restaurateurs, producers, suppliers, and the Lycée Comte de Foix professionals who contribute to the event's success.

Tickets for the 34th Gastronomic Showcase of Andorra and the Pyrenees, as well as for the Gastrolab, will go on sale on 13 October through the Comú d’Ordino website and the Tourist Office. Advance tickets will be priced at €43 for adults and €20.75 for children aged 4 to 12. If available, tickets can also be purchased at the venue on the day of the event for €48 for adults and €27 for children. However, tickets typically sell out before the event, so early purchase is recommended. All workshops and tastings at the Gastrolab will cost €2 per activity. As in previous years, 1% of sales made during the weekend will be donated to a non-governmental organisation, with this year's proceeds benefiting the solidarity projects of the Andorran Red Cross.
