Up to 47 artisanal cheesemakers from the Pyrenees are currently participating in the Fira de formatges artesans. Among them, 32 are from Catalonia, 9 from the Basque Country, 3 from France, and 3 from Aragon. In addition to the cheese offerings, the event includes 10 wineries providing beverages for attendees.

This year, visitors can also enjoy products from a cooperative of organic mountain apple producers and craft beer to complement the cheese. However, the Fira de Sant Ermengol offers more than just a cheese exhibition; it showcases local products and crafts.

From Plaça Catalunya, through Plaça de les Monges and Carrer de Sant Ot, to Carrer de Pau Claris and Carrer de Pasqual Ingla, there are 74 artisan stalls featuring high-quality handmade products. In Carrer Fra Andreu Capella and Carrer Major, over 65 food stalls are available, offering both artisanal and general food products.

In Plaça Catalunya, 10 local and organic producers present a variety of goods, including cured meats, jams, oils, gin, and fir syrup. During the inauguration on Friday, the mayor of Seu d'Urgell, Joan Barrera, highlighted the essential role of the Pyrenees.

“The Pyrenees do not ask for privileges. They seek to develop their full potential. To achieve this, we need the commitment of all administrations, starting with the Generalitat de Catalunya,”

Barrera stated. He emphasised the need to retain young talent and provide the region with the necessary economic framework for growth. “We need our young people to find professional opportunities without having to leave. Entrepreneurs should be able to pursue their projects, and companies must have the conditions needed to thrive,” he asserted.
