On October 6, the city council of A Coruña will launch the participation period for the photography contest aimed at creating the 2027 Municipal Calendar. This annual publication features 12 historical photographs and 13 contemporary color images—one for each month plus a cover. The 13 contemporary images will be chosen from submissions made by the public through an open competition.
The deadline for submitting proposals is October 23. Inés Rey, the mayor of A Coruña, stated, "The Municipal Calendar is a way to celebrate our history, looking back to see where we come from. But it is also a celebration of current talent and who we are now. This is demonstrated by the magnificent proposals we receive every year for this initiative open to everyone."
Photographs must be taken within the municipal boundaries of A Coruña and should highlight the cultural, historical, natural, and scenic heritage of the area. The selection criteria will include the representativeness of the photograph, technical quality, and originality.
Each participant may submit a maximum of three proposals, which must be in horizontal format, in color, and in a digital JPG file of at least 3 megapixels. Submissions should be sent as an email attachment or via WeTransfer to concursofotografico@coruna.gal. The subject line of the email should read "Concurso calendario municipal 2027". Additionally, the email must include the participant's full name, ID number, postal address, and contact phone number. The photograph files should also include the author's name for identification purposes.
After the submission period closes, a jury composed of members of the Municipal Corporation and professionals from the A Coruña Photographers Collective will evaluate the entries to select the 13 photographs that will be featured in the new Municipal Calendar.
