The Clúster Turismo de Galicia recently took part in the event titled 'A Coruña, a Path to MICE', organised by OPC Galicia and Galicia MICE, aimed at promoting the province as a destination for congresses, conventions, meetings, and incentive trips. The presentation took place at the Palacio de Santa Bárbara in Madrid and attracted around 120 professionals from the tourism sector.
Key figures in attendance included Cesáreo Pardal, president of the Clúster Turismo de Galicia, along with institutional and business representatives from the MICE sector. Notable attendees were Ana Trevisani, president of OPC Galicia; Xosé Regueira, vice president of the Deputación da Coruña; Carmen Pita, director of Promotion for Turismo de Galicia; Matilde Almandoz, president of OPC España; and Luis Gandiaga, president of the MICE Forum.
The event highlighted A Coruña's and Galicia's capacity to compete in the national meetings tourism market, thanks to its infrastructure, specialised services, connectivity, and complementary offerings related to gastronomy, heritage, nature, and the Camino de Santiago.
Additionally, the gathering underscored the role of MICE tourism as a tool for promoting de-seasonalisation, generating economic activity, and attracting new visitor profiles. It also presented opportunities linked to the upcoming Xacobeo 2027, which is expected to enhance the international profile of the destination.
Galicia Destino Sostible was also present at the meetings, sharing responsible tourism proposals connected to the region. Their participation aimed to introduce these experiences to industry agents and foster new promotional and marketing opportunities within the MICE market.
Furthermore, the event served to strengthen relationships between businesses, event organisers, and tourist destinations, reinforcing collaboration as a key element in boosting Galicia's competitiveness in the congress and meetings tourism sector.
