Albacete prepares for Christmas with new festive lighting

Albacete is gearing up for the festive season as the city begins the installation of its special Christmas lighting along Calle Ancha, from Altozano to Calle del Tinte. Mayor Manuel Serrano has confirmed that the lighting will be officially turned on on November 27, initiating the holiday celebrations with joy and community participation.

The extraordinary lighting on Calle Ancha is expected to be the most spectacular feature among the various decorations installed throughout the city and its surrounding areas. This initiative aims to support tourism, traditional commerce, and the local hospitality and leisure sectors.

In the pedestrian section from Altozano to Calle del Tinte, there will be 15 illuminated trees standing 11 meters tall, adorned with 60 stars measuring 2 by 2 meters. The display will feature five daily shows of light and sound, utilizing advanced software technology.

Mayor Serrano has indicated that preparations for the Christmas lighting installation are already underway. He expressed confidence that the new light tunnel, featuring sound and light shows, will be well-received, as it has been in previous years. The project is being executed by Iluminaciones Ximénez SA, which expanded last year's installation to cover the entire pedestrian axis of 240 linear meters.

The ornamental lighting aims to enhance the festive atmosphere and invigorate commercial and social life in the urban center. The trees will be constructed from aluminum, each measuring 11 meters in height and 2.70 meters in width, with illuminated branches extending 8 meters long. All lighting will utilize LED technology to minimize light pollution and energy consumption.

This year’s Christmas lighting will feature five daily shows lasting between 10 and 15 minutes, where the light displays will be synchronized with sound systems installed on metal poles to avoid obstructions on the street.

Mayor Serrano emphasized that the extraordinary lighting on Calle Ancha will be the highlight of the city’s festive decorations, aiming to create a festive and attractive atmosphere for both residents and visitors, thereby contributing to tourism and supporting local businesses and the vibrant hospitality sector.
