The Aula Poética ‘José Luis Hidalgo’ will celebrate a new session of the ‘Ut pictura poesis’ cycle on 10 October, featuring a conversation between Torrelavega painter Ángel Izquierdo and sociologist, writer, editor, and cultural manager Esteban Ruiz. The event is scheduled to begin at 19:00 at the Centro Nacional de Fotografía José Manuel Rotella, the venue for the Aula Poética.
Councillor for Culture, Esther Vélez, highlighted the significance of this event, which will provide an intimate look at the evolution and work of “one of our artists,” combining discussion with a screening of a wide selection of his works. During the conversation, Ruiz and Izquierdo will explore key moments and aspects of the artist's career, while attendees will be able to view a rich representation of his artwork projected on the auditorium screen.
Ángel Izquierdo, a disciple of Francisco Modinos, held his first exhibition in 1973 and won the Gran Premio Ciudad de Torrelavega in 1976. The event will be introduced by Carlos Alcorta, coordinator of activities at the Aula Poética ‘José Luis Hidalgo’. Vélez encouraged art and culture enthusiasts to attend the event, noting that the ‘Ut pictura poesis’ cycle has previously featured artists such as Ciriaco Párraga, Antonio Mesones, Pedro Sobrado, and Alberto Muñoz. Admission is free and open to the public.
