Arnedo hosts the 41st young art exhibition of La Rioja

The Teatro Cervantes in Arnedo is hosting the 41st Young Art Exhibition of La Rioja until 25 October, an event that brings together a selection of works from young creators in the region. This year, the exhibition is part of the programming for the Octubre Corto Festival, which promotes short films and artistic expression.

The presentation of the exhibition included remarks from Arnedo's mayor, Rosa Herce; the director of the Riojan Institute of Youth (IRJ), Juan Diego Alcaide; and María Martínez, a representative of Octubre Corto. They emphasised the importance of making contemporary art accessible to various locations in La Rioja and providing a platform for young artists in the community.

This year's exhibition marks the 41st edition and continues its journey across different exhibition spaces in La Rioja. In the previous edition, over 400 works were submitted, with 30 selected for this travelling exhibition. The showcase began at the Higher School of Design of La Rioja and has since moved through Santo Domingo de la Calzada and the IRJ itself. After its stay in Arnedo, it will proceed to Calahorra and Haro, aiming to bring contemporary art to various points in the region and highlight the talent of young Riojan artists.

During the presentation, Juan Diego Alcaide noted that one of the initiative's goals is to introduce contemporary art to other towns and allow young audiences to discover new artistic languages and disciplines. Additionally, Octubre Corto highlighted its collaboration with the IRJ and the significance of ensuring that Riojan youth are represented in a programme now in its 28th year. This partnership also includes the involvement of a youth jury that awards one of the festival's prizes.

Mayor Rosa Herce further emphasised the importance of this collaboration and encouraged both residents and visitors to Arnedo during Octubre Corto to visit the Teatro Cervantes to appreciate the works and witness the talent of young Riojan creators.
