Barbón praises Asturian emigration in Buenos Aires as 'the best flag of Asturias'

The President of the Principality of Asturias, Adrián Barbón, expressed his gratitude to the Asturian diaspora for their commitment to their homeland and their role in promoting the community internationally. "When we live within Asturias, we feel that no one loves it as much as we do, but those of you living abroad feel it even more. So thank you, because you are the best flag," he stated during a meeting with representatives of Asturian centers held in Buenos Aires.

Barbón described the meeting as "very productive." His working day in the Argentine capital took place within the framework of the World Congress of Asturianity and included economic, cultural, and social meetings.

The agenda began with a meeting with executives from Cafés Cabrales, led by Asturian entrepreneur Martín Cabrales, to learn about one of Argentina's most recognized brands. The discussion covered the company's history, business activities, and future challenges in the sector.

Following this, the president visited the Museum of Immigration in Buenos Aires, where he learned about the institution's work to preserve the memory of those who emigrated and contributed to Argentina's development.

Later, Barbón met with members of the Asturian diaspora and some of their descendants at the historic Confitería Las Violetas, a Buenos Aires establishment run by Asturians. In a relaxed atmosphere, the president exchanged views with different generations of Asturians residing in the country and learned about their experiences and connections to Asturias.

The day concluded with a meeting with 33 representatives of Asturian centers participating in the World Congress of Asturianity. The president listened to the proposals and concerns of the entities that keep Asturian identity alive abroad and thanked them for their efforts to preserve and promote culture, traditions, and ties to their community of origin.

Finally, a dinner of fellowship was held, highlighting the strength of the bonds that unite Asturias with its diaspora and the role of Asturian centers as meeting points for thousands of people around the world.
