On October 6, 2026, Belén do Campo, the delegate of the Xunta in A Coruña, held a working meeting with Salvador Peña, the minister and president of the Venerable Order of Thirds of San Francisco, who is responsible for the temple of the Venerable. This meeting was part of the ongoing follow-up on the restoration efforts being carried out in the historic complex of the Old Town of A Coruña.
During the meeting, Peña outlined the needs regarding the remaining 30% of rehabilitation work required for the chapel and its adjacent buildings. He highlighted the main conservation needs of the property, which primarily focus on renewing the roofs and addressing issues related to water ingress and the deterioration of certain structural elements, aiming to ensure the building's preservation.
Peña explained the work done on the wooden structure, as well as the tasks completed in the sacristy and storage areas. The delegate also learned about other conservation efforts related to the building's functionality, including electrical pre-installation, replacement of damaged windows, and repairs to interior finishes.
The Venerable Order of Thirds of San Francisco is an integral part of the Old Town and Pescadería of A Coruña, making the preservation of its architectural and structural elements a key topic of discussion during the meeting.
As president of the Xunta de Cofradías of Holy Week, Peña took the opportunity to inform do Campo about his collaboration in the procession for the Day of the Rosary, scheduled for tomorrow, October 7. The delegate expressed her gratitude for his efforts and involvement in organizing this celebration and conveyed the Xunta's support for upcoming Holy Week events, which in 2027 will coincide with the celebration of the Holy Year Xacobeo. This coincidence is expected to enhance the significance of the celebration in the city, given the importance of both events.
