On October 9, 2026, at 21:00, the Casa da Cultura in Burela will host the premiere of 'My Father Was Born the Same Year as Mick Jagger', the latest theatrical offering from Tarabela Creativa, in collaboration with the Concello de Burela.
After months of development, the play combines humor, memory, identity, and research, drawing on the family history of the author, Carmen Conde, and linking her father's life to that of Mick Jagger.
In recent weeks, Burela has played a crucial role in the creative process of the piece, with the entire cast participating in an artistic residency at the Casa da Cultura, where they have been finalizing rehearsals ahead of the debut.
Carmen Conde's father worked for decades as a fingerprint specialist in the Judicial Police, solving crimes through fingerprint analysis. The play weaves a comedic narrative that includes elements such as bombs, pickpockets, con artists, toxic milk from Chernobyl, hippie drug lords, and a millionaire inheritance, blurring the lines between reality and fiction.
The production also establishes a connection between the lives of Carmen Conde's father and Mick Jagger, two seemingly distant figures that serve as a foundation for exploring an era and various perspectives on life.
Targeted at an adult audience, the cast includes Carmen Conde, Fran Lareu, and Xosé Manuel Esperante. Avelino González directs the piece, with set design by Tarabela Creativa, sound design by Ezequiel Orol, lighting by Dyango Pérez, and costumes by Natalia Otero.
Lina Gómez, the councilor for Culture, expressed the council's satisfaction in supporting Tarabela Creativa, stating, “It is especially meaningful for us that the cast has spent the last three weeks working and rehearsing at the Casa da Cultura. Burela is becoming the place where the play grows, is rehearsed, and takes shape, and experiencing that process from within is a very special opportunity.”
She added, “The moment we have been waiting for has arrived, which is to open the doors of the Casa da Cultura and share the result of that work with the public. We are very pleased that the premiere is here and that we can continue to support Galician stage creation and projects that bring theatrical creation to our town.”
Tickets are priced at 5 euros and can be purchased at the Casa da Cultura box office starting at 20:00. The Concello de Burela encourages residents to attend the premiere and experience a work that blends humor, music, research, and a family story.
