Caballero supports Vila Laura Infant School parents' association in demand for support teacher

On October 9, 2026, the mayor of Vigo, Abel Caballero, joined a demonstration organized by the parents' association (ANPA) of Vila Laura Infant School. The gathering aimed to pressure the Xunta, the regional government of Galicia, to honor its commitment to provide the school with a teacher who is included in the catalog established by the Consellería de Educación, the regional education authority.

Caballero highlighted that Vila Laura Infant School is recognized by the Consellería de Educación as having 13 early childhood education teachers. However, since the beginning of the current school year, the school has only been staffed with 12 teachers. He stated, “They have a serious problem because having one less teacher for children aged 3 to 6 years means inadequate attention.”
