Until October 26, the city of Cáceres is accepting applications for the organization of national or higher-level sports championships, following its designation as European City of Sport 2026. The total budget allocated for these grants is €50,000.
The Cáceres City Council is offering competitive grants for federations or organizations that wish to host official Spanish championships or higher, as well as unofficial championships involving the national team in any sport during 2026. This initiative aims to position Cáceres as a venue for high-quality sporting events, further enhancing its profile with the title of European City of Sport 2026.
Eligible events must take place in Cáceres between January 1 and December 10, 2026. Interested entities are required to submit their applications through the City Council's Electronic Headquarters, where they can find the guidelines and necessary documentation for the application process.
Noelia Rodríguez, the city’s Sports Councillor, has encouraged federations and organizations to apply for these grants, stating, “Sports activity is very important in the city, and proof of this is that we are a European City of Sport 2026. This government team is clearly committed to sports, as demonstrated by a broader sports program and initiatives aimed at ensuring Cáceres engages in sports year-round. The entire sports community in the city is contributing to this effort, and we encourage them to continue their work.”
