Calamocha council allocates €132,000 in 2026 to support local associations

Calamocha council has signed ten collaboration agreements with local entities, providing financial support for their activities throughout the year. The agreements were formalised on 13 October, with a total allocation of €132,000 planned for 2026.

Manuel Rando, the mayor of Calamocha, expressed gratitude towards the associations, stating, "They are a fundamental part of the cultural and sporting life of Calamocha, and everything they do adds significant value to our town."

Financial support for various sectors

In the realm of sports, the council granted €2,400 to the 4x4 club and €1,000 to the Crossfit Jiloca Sports Club, which signed an agreement with the council for the first time. Chema Torán, the coach of CD Crossfit Jiloca, commented, "We are very pleased, and this support is crucial for financing the professional assistance we provide in psychology, nutrition, and other areas for our athletes."

Socially, the council allocated €1,430 to the women's association, €1,000 to the AMPA of Ricardo Mallén School, €700 to the IES Valle del Jiloca, and €800 for a study trip for fourth-year ESO students. Additionally, €1,000 was granted to the Zarragones association in Luco de Jiloca. Luis Trataj, a member of the association, stated, "This support helps ensure that the traditions of small localities like ours are not lost. We are also approaching the 25th anniversary of our carnival revival and want to prepare something special."

The Young Truffle Growers Association of Teruel received €800, while the Friends of the Virgin Association received €400 for their night round held on 15 August. For the first time, the council also awarded €300 to ATUEM, the Teruel Multiple Sclerosis Association. Mayor Rando explained, "We are gradually integrating not only associations but also entities that work with sick or needy individuals. Now it is ATUEM, and we also collaborate with the Red Cross, the Spanish Association Against Cancer, and many others."

Commitment to community support

Rando highlighted that the number and type of agreements signed demonstrate the socialist government team's commitment to supporting various groups to meet community needs. He noted, "Calamocha is characterised by culture-education and sport-health, and by supporting these associations, we contribute to that goal."

Throughout 2026, the council has received positive feedback for its financial support to over thirty organisations. Rando stated, "As long as we can, we will continue to fund as many associations and entities as possible because they are a vital part of life in Calamocha." He also mentioned that the support provided is not solely financial but includes logistical assistance and event organisation. "This is the most costly in terms of both finance and management, but we do it joyfully to ensure activities can take place," he added. Rando concluded, "If the work done by these associations had to be carried out by the council, it would cost us much more, so we want to thank them for their involvement and support their efforts."
