Campaign launched to control invasive velutina wasp

The Ayuntamiento de Parres has initiated a campaign aimed at controlling the population of the invasive velutina wasp, known for its detrimental impact on local ecosystems and honeybee populations.

Residents can participate in the campaign by collecting traps designed to capture these wasps. The traps can be picked up from the municipal office, which is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 14:00.

In addition, the authorities encourage the public to report any velutina nests they encounter. To do so, residents should take a photograph of the nest and note its location. Reports can be submitted via email at ayuntamiento@ayto-parres.es or by calling the municipal office at 985 840 024.
