A new edition of the Canarias Manga Festival has commenced in Puerto del Rosario, running from 23 to 25 October. Organised by the Cabildo de Fuerteventura and the local council, the festival caters to fans of manga, anime, video games, and K-pop.

Taking place in the Plaza de la Paz, the festival features notable guests including actors Santiago Segura and Florentino Fernández, alongside a diverse array of artists, content creators, and entertainment professionals.

Carmen Alonso, the councillor for New Technologies, encouraged everyone to participate, stating that the event “goes far beyond entertainment. Disciplines such as digital art, manga storytelling, and video game technology are not just hobbies; they are windows to the world and powerful tools for expression.”

David de Vera, the mayor of Puerto del Rosario, expressed gratitude for the collaboration with the Cabildo, emphasising the importance of reviving manga and anime culture in the streets of the capital, which he noted is a demand from the youth sector of the municipality.

The festival features a lineup of prominent voice actors, including Luis Posada, Claudio Serrano, and Laura Pastor. Renowned animators such as Carlos Biern, a leading figure in Spanish animation and former president of DIBOOS, and Elena Velasco, known for her work on projects like Dr. Stone, Klaus, Central Park, and Space Jam: A New Legacy, will also be present.

The programme includes appearances from Guinxu, Mikecrack, Invictor, Timba VK, Mondongo, Masterchen F, and other artists, illustrators, mangakas, singers, and creators linked to the manga and Asian culture universe. A highlight of the festival is the participation of renowned South Korean K-pop choreographer Jay Kim, who is a global reference in the field.

Additionally, the festival will feature an exclusive gaming area, exhibitions, a crafts zone, competitions, a cosplay parade, K-pop masterclasses, and many other activities.
