Carme Ruscalleda inaugurates the grand romesco festival and the second edition of the Tarragona Marida fair

This morning, the grand romesco festival and the second edition of the Tarragona Marida fair were inaugurated at Rambla Nova. The event was attended by renowned chef Carme Ruscalleda, Tarragona's mayor Rubén Viñuales, Montse Adan, president of Mercats de Tarragona and councillor for Commerce, Joan Gené, director general of the Catalan Institute of Vine and Wine (INCAVI), as well as city council members and acclaimed chefs.

During the opening ceremony, Carme Ruscalleda showcased a cooking demonstration alongside local chefs Moha Quach and David Solé. The event also paid tribute to Rafel Simó, a former member of the Tarragona Syndicate of Initiatives and Tourism, who was instrumental in establishing the traditional competition for master romescaires, chefs who specialise in the preparation of romesco sauce.

The grand romesco festival and the Tarragona Marida fair will take place at Rambla Nova until tomorrow, 18 October. Over the three days, the upper section of Rambla Nova will be filled with a diverse programme of activities suitable for all ages, including round tables, popular tastings, family activities, cooking sessions, and much more, all featuring wines from the region's Denominations of Origin.
