The Casa de los Curas in Calahorra is hosting an exhibition of 20 selected images from the sixth edition of the 'Nature Tourism Ciudad de Calahorra' photography competition. The exhibition opened today, 22 October, and will run until Sunday, 29 November.
The opening ceremony, scheduled for this evening at 19:00, will include the presentation of awards to the winners. This year, the competition received a total of 38 submissions across three categories: 'Urban nature: fauna and flora', 'El Perdiguero reservoir: nature, leisure and tourism', and 'Open theme on nature within the municipality of Calahorra'.
The three winning photographs are 'Vuelo hacia la historia' by Blanca Lorza Francés, 'Espejo de una ausencia' by David Amatriain Pascual, and 'Calapolas' by Pedro Soldevilla Merino. Each winner will receive a diploma and a cash prize of €900.
The exhibition can be visited Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 14:30, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 18:00 to 20:00, and on Sundays and public holidays from 12:00 to 14:00.
The jury evaluated the submissions based on technical and artistic quality, uniqueness, reality, composition, and beauty, as well as the relevance of the themes in promoting awareness of Calahorra's natural values and encouraging respect for biodiversity.
For the past six years, the Calahorra City Council has organised this competition to highlight the city's natural, agricultural, and landscape heritage, which is closely linked to the municipality's identity and uniqueness. Through this initiative, the council aims to showcase and promote the richness and beauty of Calahorra's natural spaces and landscapes.
