The city of Castelló is set to host the 17th edition of the Sabores Castelló Tapas Route, running from 15 October to 7 November, with the participation of 60 local establishments. The initiative aims to celebrate local cuisine, promote regional products, and showcase the creativity of hospitality professionals.
Arantxa Miralles, the city's Tourism Councillor, highlighted the significance of this event in boosting both the hospitality and tourism sectors in Castelló. She encouraged residents and visitors alike to explore the city's culinary offerings. "The Tapas Route is an opportunity to highlight the talent of our restaurateurs, showcase the richness of our gastronomy, and continue making Castelló an attractive city for year-round enjoyment," she stated.
This year, the event features a notable renewal in its offerings, with 20 establishments participating for the first time. Miralles emphasised that the continued growth of the route reflects its increasing appeal among new professionals and its contribution to the local economy and gastronomic identity.
Over the course of 24 days, participants will have the chance to sample culinary creations from the 60 establishments, all competing for the title of Best Tapas of the Year. Each venue will present two tapas, with prices set at €6, including a drink. Organisers anticipate serving over 90,000 tapas during this edition, with an estimated economic impact exceeding €1.2 million in the hospitality sector. It is also expected that 23% of consumers will be visitors from outside Castelló, further enhancing the event's role as a tool for tourism promotion and local economic stimulation.
The Master Sabores Castelló 2026 event will take place on 25 November, where finalist chefs will prepare their dishes live in front of an audience and a jury, who will select the Best Tapas of Castelló 2026. This event has become a highlight in the local gastronomic calendar, bringing together hospitality professionals, institutional representatives, media, and the public to celebrate culinary creativity and talent.
The official image for this year's edition, titled "Castelló vibra," has been created by local artist Pepe Mingol, reflecting the vibrancy and joy of sharing meals and the role of gastronomy as a meeting point for community engagement.
In addition to its culinary focus, the Tapas Route will incorporate a charitable aspect through collaboration with the Castelló Food Bank. Official guides in physical format will be available at participating establishments and tourism offices for a donation of €0.50, with proceeds going towards purchasing food for families in need within the province. The guide will include details of the 60 participating establishments, their locations, contact information, and descriptions of the two tapas offered by each venue. Interested individuals can obtain the guide through the charitable donation at the establishments and tourism offices, and it will also be available in digital format via the Instagram profile @sabores_castellon.
