Toledo, October 4, 2026 - Carmen Teresa Olmedo, the vice-counselor of Culture and Sports, attended the inauguration of the 2026-2027 academic year at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and Historical Sciences in Toledo. The event took place at the Palacio de Benacazón, the capital of the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha, and was also attended by the president of the institution, Eduardo Sánchez Butragueño.
During her address, Olmedo announced that the Castilla-La Mancha government has launched a specific funding line of €300,000 for the years 2024 and 2025. This initiative aims to support the activities of scientific, artistic, and literary academies in the region. Five institutions benefited from this funding, including the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and Historical Sciences in Toledo, which received nearly €50,000.
This funding reflects the regional government's commitment to research, knowledge dissemination, and the preservation of cultural heritage. Olmedo also mentioned that the president of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, has announced a new round of funding aimed at further supporting the activities of regional academies, enhancing their research, dissemination, and cultural preservation efforts.
Additionally, Olmedo congratulated the 11 new corresponding academicians who are joining the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and Historical Sciences in Toledo and offered special recognition to José Luis Isabel Sánchez for his 25 years of service as a full academician. She emphasized the dedication of all members to the study, research, and dissemination of historical and artistic heritage, as well as their contributions to preserving and enriching Toledo's cultural legacy.
