Colindres unveils cultural and sporting programme for August

The municipality of Colindres has revealed its planned activities for August, promising a calendar filled with cultural, sporting, youth, and family events designed for everyone. Over the coming weeks, both residents and visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy concerts, sports competitions, circus shows, children's activities, international folklore, outdoor cinema, and established events such as the Mercado Marinero and Los Jueves del Kiosco.

Mayor Javier Incera stated, “We have prepared a wide and varied programme so that both the people of Colindres and those who visit us during the summer can find activities suited to all tastes and ages. Our goal is to continue energising the municipality and make Colindres a reference point for leisure and culture during the summer months.”

He also highlighted the collaborative effort of various departments, associations, and groups involved in organising these activities, noting that their success relies on the engagement of many individuals and organisations.

The programme will kick off on 1 and 2 August with the El Juncu Futsal Tournament at the local sports centre. On 1 August, the concert “Les Amitiés Florissantes” by Duo Baalbeck will take place at the Casa de Cultura, alongside a youth activity called “Survival Zombi” organised by the Youth Centre.

On 3 August, the final of the XXXIII Memorial Jesús Ochoa de Bolo Palma will be held, followed by the final of the XLVI Trofeo San Ginés de Bolo Palma on 5 August, which will also feature a Family Workshop on Total Solar Eclipse and a performance by the Folklore Group “Boea Provedianse” from New Caledonia as part of the XXXVIII International Folklore Showcase “Por las Tierras de Cantabria.”

Continuing on 6 August, “Los Jueves del Kiosco” will return with entertainment from Rosana Garín, alongside a conference organised by the University of Cantabria titled “Educational Models in Football Quarries: Past, Present, and Future.” From 7 to 9 August, Colindres will host another edition of the Mercado Marinero on Heliodoro Fernández Street and the Fisherman’s Square.

On 8 August, the III 3×3 Basketball Tournament “Europa Pisando la Calle” and the XXXII Ría del Asón Flag, a prominent event in the traineras (traditional rowing boats) calendar, will take place. On 12 August, “Sunset Eclipse” will be held at the Parque del Riego featuring K-Style, while “Los Jueves del Kiosco” will return on 13 August.

On 14 August, the family show “Stellar Circus” will begin on Avenida de Europa, running until 21 August. That same day, the XXXVIII International Folklore Showcase will welcome the Folklore Group “Tupa Marka” from Chile. The San Roque festivities on 16 August will include various family activities, such as a street train, a traditional mass and procession in honour of the saint, and a popular sardine barbecue organised by local groups El Juncu and San Juan.

Finally, on 18 August, a new edition of the Summer Cinema will feature a screening of the film “The Bad Guys 2,” while “Los Jueves del Kiosco” will conclude the first half of August on 20 August. “We invite all residents and visitors to participate in these activities and enjoy a summer filled with culture, sport, and community in Colindres,” concluded Javier Incera.
