The Comú d'Escaldes-Engordany has approved the awarding of the bar-restaurant at Prat del Roure to the team comprising Barra Mars, SLU and Mr. Joan Colominas Navarro. They will take over the management of the establishment for the next ten years.
The winning proposal emphasises market cuisine, particularly specialising in cod, and aims to refresh the venue's atmosphere to cater to the diverse audiences frequenting the sports, social, and cultural complex.
The mayor, Rosa Gili, stated that the terms of the contract were designed to ensure a varied gastronomic offering while also guaranteeing extensive opening hours and a service tailored to the activities at Prat del Roure. She highlighted that the chosen proposal meets these expectations, with a kitchen open throughout the day to serve the various user profiles visiting the site.
Gili also expressed gratitude for the work and dedication of the family that has managed the restaurant for many years and voiced hope that this new chapter would be equally successful.
The concession will last for an initial period of ten years and includes both the interior space and the outdoor terrace. The awarding process was conducted through a public competition, with four applications submitted. Barra Mars's proposal received the highest technical rating, particularly noted for its clear management model, service organisation, and planned improvements for the establishment's operation.
The new gastronomic project will offer a diverse menu that includes breakfasts, lunches, snacks, tapas, and dinner services, aiming to cater to regular park users, families, athletes, and attendees of various organised activities. The proposal also suggests extending the regular opening hours to 21:00, one hour beyond the minimum required in the competition, and ensuring kitchen service throughout the day.
Regarding the facilities, the project proposes a warm and welcoming atmosphere, incorporating greenery and flexible furniture, as well as a coherent aesthetic between the interior and the terrace. Improvements in lighting, acoustic conditioning, and finishing touches are also planned.
The concession encompasses an interior space of 271 square metres and an outdoor terrace of 278 square metres, with a fee of €4,300. The contract will initially last for ten years, with the possibility of annual extensions up to a maximum of fifteen years.
Through this awarding, the Comú aims to ensure a quality dining service in one of the parish's key spaces, which hosts numerous sports, social, and cultural activities throughout the year. The goal is for the bar-restaurant to remain a meeting point for park users and the wider community.
