Deputación de Lugo approves kitchen equipment for Becerreá residence and advances Casa da Botica project

The provincial government of Lugo has taken significant steps to enhance local infrastructure and services, approving the allocation of industrial kitchen equipment for the Centre for the Elderly (CAM) in Becerreá. This decision was announced during a press conference following the weekly government session.

Pilar García Porto, the spokesperson for the socialist government, confirmed that the agreement with the town of Guitiriz was also formalised, allowing for the completion of the Casa da Botica project with a joint investment exceeding €3.2 million.

Details of the kitchen equipment allocation

The contract for the kitchen equipment and installation adaptation in Becerreá has been divided into two lots. The first lot, awarded to Mariña Clima SL for €441,705.21, includes the industrial equipment and necessary adaptations. The second lot was awarded to Socogas SA for €17,346.10, which involves the supply of a liquefied petroleum gas tank.

Funding for Casa da Botica

In relation to the Guitiriz residence, García Porto noted that the president of the Deputación de Lugo, Carmela López, and the mayor of Guitiriz, Marisol Morandeira, signed a new collaboration agreement. This agreement outlines a provincial contribution of €3,137,597.68 and a municipal contribution of €115,016.74, bringing the total investment to €3,252,614.42. The centre will provide 46 residential places and two nursing places, combining the rehabilitation of the historic Casa da Botica building with the construction of a new facility.

Road improvements in Friol and Baleira

The government also approved the bidding for two road improvement projects in the provincial network, with a combined budget of €333,658.43 and an execution period of four months for each project. In Friol, the work will rehabilitate the LU-P-2109 road between Devesa and Vilafiz, and the LU-P-2121 road from Cotá to Cinto Comarcal. The total budget for these two projects is €159,644.19. In Baleira, the project involves the conditioning of a four-kilometre stretch of the LU-P-0401 road from Corveira to Restelo, with a budget of €174,014.24.

Water supply improvements in Ribeira de Piquín

Another agreement approved is the collaboration with the town of Ribeira de Piquín to finance maintenance and improvement works on municipal water supply infrastructure, with a total cost of €48,663.08. The provincial contribution will be €45,112.88, while the town will cover the remaining €3,550.20. Planned works include cleaning and disinfecting water sources, conduits, and storage tanks, as well as manual vegetation clearance along access paths to facilitate ongoing maintenance. These improvements will benefit over a third of the municipality's population.

The town council, which directly manages these infrastructures, aims to commence the works before the end of the year.
