The DNA 2026 programme, dedicated to contemporary dance in Navarra and organised by the General Directorate of Culture - Príncipe de Viana Institution and the Baluarte Foundation, concluded its current edition with a closing event held on 9 October 2026 at the Príncipe de Viana Institution. The event gathered dance companies, cultural managers, and institutional representatives to review the artistic residencies and performances developed within the Navarra Theatre Network.
During the day, participants shared creative experiences from various regions and discussed the evolution of their projects. The organisers highlighted, “DNA continues to consolidate a common space to connect contemporary dance with the public and promote the professional development of the sector in Navarra.”
Exhibitions and new research residencies
This year, DNA showcased works created during the 2025 residencies, touring 16 venues of the Navarra Theatre Network from 10 April to 10 May. Featured performances included Qualia (Dinamo Danza), Etena Dena (Olatz Larunbe), Mi Carrera (Ane Sagüés and Paula Puchalt), and Ultimatum (Led Silhouette).
Additionally, between May and September, four new four-week residencies were held, laying the groundwork for productions in 2027:
- 'Lurrik gabe' (Compañía IXA): From 6 to 30 July at the Zizur Mayor Cultural Centre, reinterpreting The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch through Navarrese landscapes as physical dramaturgy.
- 'Threshold' (Idoia Rodríguez): Developed at the Iortia Cultural Centre in Alsasua between August and September, exploring the movement of waves to investigate the accumulation and collapse of the body.
- 'A mi manera' (Amelia Álvarez): From 3 to 28 August at the Harriondoa Cultural Centre in Lesaka, addressing the emotional journey of a young dancer and her bodily archive.
- 'Cuerpos que sostienen' (Saioa Lara): From 22 June to 17 July at the Lodosa Cultural Centre, examining physical, emotional, and communal support through movement.
Cross-border networks, training, and cultural spaces
DNA 2026 has reaffirmed its presence in the cross-border network Atalak, where Olatz Larunbe will conduct a research laboratory at Dantzagunea (Errenteria) alongside Dantzaz. The programme also maintained its exchange with the Dansa València festival (11-19 April), featuring Led Silhouette (Ultimatum) and Akira Yoshida (Oroimen).
Furthermore, the programme has focused on mediation and training pathways at the Navarra Dance School, the Haizea Association, IES Alaitz, and EASDI of Corella. The edition concluded by reconnecting with the Museo en Danza cycle at the University of Navarra Museum, which hosted performances of Qualia on 8 October and Ultimatum on 11 October.
