EMT Madrid has entered into a collaboration agreement with Fundación Bobath to enhance the living conditions of individuals with cerebral palsy. The agreement, signed by Borja Carabante, the delegate for Urban Development, Environment and Mobility and president of EMT Madrid, and Antonio Eugercios, the managing director of Fundación Bobath, aims to establish a framework for developing projects that promote universal and independent accessibility for people with cerebral palsy in relation to the municipal bus service.
The initiative, titled ‘Creemos en tu autonomía’ (We believe in your autonomy), will facilitate safe and independent bus use through theoretical and practical information sessions held at the Fundación Bobath headquarters. These sessions will provide personalised training to ensure that users can travel independently and safely. One beneficiary of this training, Mercedes, highlighted that the experience has given her the confidence to use the bus freely.
In addition, EMT Madrid has committed to promoting Fundación Bobath's awareness campaigns and encouraging volunteerism among its staff to support actions organised by the foundation. The company will also participate in information and awareness-raising events focused on universal accessibility.
Founded in Madrid in 1982, Fundación Bobath is dedicated to the comprehensive treatment and education of individuals with cerebral palsy, employing an interdisciplinary therapeutic approach aimed at improving postural control and function. EMT Madrid is focused on ensuring universal accessibility and enhancing bus usage for all users, regardless of their physical, sensory, or intellectual conditions.
