The City Day commemorates the anniversary of Figueres being granted city status, which this year marks its 151st anniversary. The distinctions are awarded to individuals or groups for their contributions to the social, economic, cultural, and artistic life of Figueres. In late August, the Nomenclátor Commission, comprising around twenty members, evaluated and approved the nominations.
