Fuerteventura collaborates with six european markets at Turespaña convention

The Insular Tourism Board of Fuerteventura took part in the VI Turespaña Convention, held in Zaragoza from 20 to 22 October, under the theme "Do you speak global? International tourism as a lever for transformation." This annual event, organised by Turespaña, is the main gathering for the Spanish tourism sector, bringing together destinations, businesses, and institutions to share international promotion strategies.

Representatives included Marlene Figueroa, the Vice President and Tourism Councillor of the Cabildo, and the Board's Managing Director. Their participation focused on bilateral meetings on 20 October with tourism councillors from Austria, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Sweden. These discussions aimed to strengthen awareness of Fuerteventura as a destination in these source markets, particularly through the organisation of familiarisation trips for tourism professionals who can promote the island in their home countries.

The convention also facilitated closer ties with the autonomous communities of Euskadi, Galicia, Asturias, Andalucía, Madrid, and Catalonia, all of which have direct flight connections to Fuerteventura. During these meetings, potential joint promotional actions were evaluated to maximise these connections and encourage more visitors to the island.

Marlene Figueroa emphasised, "The Turespaña Convention is a direct working space with those who know each source market best. Agreeing on joint actions with the tourism councillors abroad allows us to reach sector professionals with greater precision and effectiveness." She further highlighted that "Fuerteventura is committed to qualitative growth, and any action that strengthens the island's regular air connectivity with European markets is strategic for the destination. This is precisely what we have worked on this week in Zaragoza."

The contacts established in Zaragoza will enable ongoing collaboration with tourism representatives abroad and the autonomous communities to develop promotional actions aimed at Fuerteventura's source markets.
