Fuerteventura music school receives donated piano for students

The Cabildo of Fuerteventura has expressed its appreciation for the generosity of John Thomas Patterson, whose donation will expand the musical resources available to students at the Insular School of Music, which operates under the Department of Education of the Cabildo.

The school has received a vertical piano from the Wagner brand, donated by Patterson, who wished to contribute selflessly to musical education on the island. This gesture ensures that the instrument will become part of the resources at the Insular School of Music, where it will be used by students for their learning and musical practice, giving new life to an instrument that will continue to resonate in the hands of future generations of musicians.

The island's president, Lola García, also expressed her gratitude to John Thomas Patterson for his generosity and sensitivity towards musical education, highlighting the importance of such initiatives that allow for the continued use of instruments in service of teaching and culture on the island.

Adargoma Hernández, the Education Councillor of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, conveyed his thanks to the donor for this initiative, emphasising that “gestures like those of John Thomas Patterson demonstrate the value of community collaboration in the development of musical education. Thanks to his generosity, an instrument that is part of his personal history will continue to be filled with music and accompany our students' learning.” He added, “Contributions like this help us to continue bringing music to all citizens.”
