Galapagar prepares for Halloween with workshops, literature and haunted passages from 25 to 31 October

Galapagar is gearing up to celebrate Halloween with a series of events starting on Sunday, 25 October. The Asociación de Mujeres Artesanas will organise several children's workshops at La Posada, located at Plaza de la Constitución, 9. There will be three sessions from 11:00 to 12:00, 12:00 to 13:00, and 13:00 to 14:00, with 15 places available per session. Participation is free, and tickets can be obtained through the eAgora app.

Additionally, the association will set up a craft market in Plaza de la Constitución, open from 11:00 to 18:00.

The Ricardo León Library will also contribute to the festivities with various activities related to horror and literature. On Thursday, 29 October, at 18:00, ‘Masters of Horror’ will be held, a discussion led by Ángel Sanchidrián Sanz that explores this genre through film and literature, allowing participants to share impressions and converse about stories that evoke fear and unease. This event is aimed at those aged 16 and over, and entry is free until capacity is reached. For more information, attendees can contact biblioteca@galapagar.es.

On Friday, 30 October, Punto Joven will offer two free activities from 17:30 to 20:30. Children aged 4 to 9, born between 2018 and 2023, can join ‘A Halloween of Laughter’, while young people aged 10 to 17 will participate in the workshop ‘Get Ready for Halloween’. Registration is required in advance at www.plangalapagar.es, with sign-ups for ‘A Halloween of Laughter’ opening on Monday, 26 October.

Also on Friday, the Ricardo León Library will launch the interest centre ‘The Cemetery of Forgotten Books’, available for visits until 6 November. This initiative features horror stories, supernatural tales, and books that readers can discover through blind borrowing: each book will be wrapped and accompanied by two or three clues. Additionally, a literary cemetery will give a second life to books awaiting new readers. This proposal is open to all and will be available until supplies last.

The day will continue at the library at 19:00 with ‘Weaving Terror: Our Share of Night’, led by Valeria Iglesias. Based on the novel Our Share of Night by Mariana Enríquez, participants will explore elements of gothic literature and how to construct terror through storytelling. This session is aimed at adults and will also have free entry until full capacity.

This year features two different haunted passages. Notably, La Posada will host the Tunnel of Terror on Saturday, 31 October, organised by the Galapagar Animation Group, from 19:00 to 21:00. This activity is intended for children aged 10 and above and will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, with no prior registration or ticket required.

On the same day, Punto Joven will conclude the programme with the haunted passage ‘Hotel Black Lake’, which will open from 18:00 to 23:00. This activity is free and aimed at participants aged 8 and above, with prior registration necessary at www.plangalapagar.es.
