Galicia will host the state circus biennial in Santiago de Compostela from 23 to 26 November, featuring 18 artistic proposals and professional encounters. The event is organised by CircoRED with the support of the Xunta de Galicia.
During the presentation at the Gaiás, Jacobo Sutil, director of the Galician Agency for Cultural Industries, and Ana Isabel Vázquez, managing director of the Cidade da Cultura de Galicia Foundation, highlighted the significance of this initiative. This biennial marks the first time the event will be held outside Madrid, evolving from the previous Circo Presente Continuo format.
The venues for the biennial will include the Cidade da Cultura, Teatro Principal, and Salón Teatro, bringing together artists, companies, programming professionals, distributors, and institutions to share projects and foster new collaboration and hiring opportunities.
The programme, supported by the Consellería de Cultura, Lingua e Xuventude, includes eight performances, six short showcases, and four works in progress. Notable performances will feature Naufragio by Labsurda, Serena by Circ Bover, Matrimonio by Kolektivo Konika, Siku by Jessica Arpin, and Sen patrón by Pistacatro, which provided a preview during the presentation.
In addition to the performances, the programme will incorporate the Professional Congress CIRCO en RED and the State Circus Fair, offering workshops, professional meetings, project presentations, and the CircoRED Award over the four days. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage in activities at D10! Encontro de Formación e Innovación en Circo, organised by Pistacatro as a space for training, research, and exchange.
Professional registrations for BEC! are now open, and further information can be found on the website circored.com.
