The Modern Audiovisual and Digital Centre has announced the opening of registrations for Game Jam Girona 2026, which will take place from 20 to 22 November at the Girotrònica, part of the Fira de Girona. This event promises a weekend of collaborative creation, where teams will develop a video game based on a theme revealed at the start of the event.
This year, the capacity for the Game Jam has expanded to 100 participants. Registration is free and includes entry to the Girotrònica for all three days, access to fair activities, and accreditation for an exclusive workspace equipped with tables, chairs, and internet connectivity via Wi-Fi and cable. Participants will also receive four meals: dinner on Friday, lunch and dinner on Saturday, and lunch on Sunday, redeemable at the event's catering services.
Additionally, there will be a designated area for resting and overnight stays, with hot showers and 24-hour access to the LAN terrace. A notable new feature for this edition is the award for best narrative, recognising originality and coherence in story, universe, and characters, as well as their integration with gameplay. This category joins existing awards for best game, best art, best music, best mechanics, and a special jury prize, with a total of €700 in Steam vouchers to be distributed.
The event is exclusively in-person and aims to provide a space for experimentation, knowledge sharing, and networking among individuals involved in video game creation. The challenge will commence on Friday, 20 November, at 18:00 with a presentation and theme reveal. From that point, teams will work on an original PC game proposal, which must be submitted by 15:00 on Sunday, 22 November.
Throughout the weekend, participants will have access to specialised mentorship in programming, art, animation, game design, and narrative. Professionals in these fields will assist teams in resolving queries, developing ideas, and progressing towards a playable version of their projects. On Sunday, 22 November, starting at 16:30, teams will present their video games on the main stage of the Girotrònica, culminating in an awards ceremony.
Registrations are now open via the form available on the Girotrònica website and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until all spots are filled. Game Jam Girona is an initiative by the Modern Audiovisual and Digital Centre of Girona, in collaboration with the Girona Electronic Sports Association, supported by the Department of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia and the Girona Provincial Council.
