Christian Gomis, the blanquiazul forward for CD Tenerife, addressed the media on Friday regarding his integration into the team, his rapport with attacking partners, and the current situation under coach Álvaro Cervera. Despite disappointing recent results, Gomis expressed confidence in the team's progress.
“I believe we are improving, week by week, despite the results,”
he stated. Gomis acknowledged that setbacks can create uncertainty but insisted that their daily efforts are yielding positive outcomes. “We are progressing each week, and we are doing things better,” he added.
The player detailed that adapting to Tenerife's style of play has been a positive journey, although it requires adjustments from the football he was used to in Germany. “I come from a more direct and faster game. Here, I have to find spaces more, and I am adapting,” he explained.
Gomis expressed gratitude for the opportunities he has been receiving: “I am very happy because I am getting more chances to play and help the team.”
Regarding Cervera's instructions, Gomis noted that the coach emphasises using his speed to exploit spaces and contribute to pressing. “The first thing the coach asks me is to attack the depth with my speed,” he detailed. He also mentioned, “He asks me to help defensively with high pressing, as I am a player capable of repeating efforts.”
Additionally, Gomis aims to enhance his involvement in the team's build-up play. “Personally, I would like to help even more in the construction of the game to provide additional solutions,” he remarked.
