Historian and writer Ángel Neila is set to conclude the conference series titled 'The Valley of Piélagos: dissection of a millenary history' this Wednesday at 19:00. The event will take place at the Local of the Junta Vecinal in Arce.

Neila's talk, entitled 'From Arce to the sea: a historical journey through the lower basin of the river Pas', will cover various topics including the earliest references to Arce and other towns along the lower Pas. He will explore hypotheses regarding the origins of the names of the locality and Velo, discuss the toponym Piélagos and its connection to fishing, and examine the traditional hórreos (granaries) in Arce and other villages and their decline.

Additionally, Neila will address the historical floods of the Pas River, the impact of the plague in 1596 on the locality and surrounding areas, as well as the upper and lower valleys of Piélagos, the Torre de Velo, the Santillán lineage, and the village during the 18th and 19th centuries.
