Institute Gil-Albert launches second urban art cycle featuring Roice 183, Krisztina Molnar and Chokone

The second edition of the Urban Art Cycle organised by the Alicante Institute of Culture Juan Gil-Albert will feature graffiti artists Roice 183, Krisztina Molnar, and Chokone, who will oversee the creation of murals in the towns of Salinas, Los Montesinos, and Orxeta, respectively.

Juan de Dios Navarro, the Deputy for Culture, explained that “this cycle aims to bring urban art closer to the municipalities of the province and encourage citizen participation in artistic creation, thanks to the involvement of the graffiti artists and the collaboration of the local councils, which have provided spaces to make this project possible and ensure that these works remain as a testament to shared creativity and our cultural wealth.”

Through participatory workshops, these renowned artists will engage with participants—who must register in advance—to execute a collaborative project on a wall or surface provided by the localities where the interventions will take place. While the artists will guide the execution of the work and intervene at its beginning and end, it will be the workshop attendees who will develop the artwork.

The first session of the cycle will take place on 17 October, with Roice 183 painting a wall on Calle Filipinas in Salinas. Javier Pérez, a visual artist specialised in contemporary urban art, has established a career both nationally and internationally. His work, characterised by an abstract language and a strong focus on colour, geometry, and space, has been exhibited in galleries, museums, and art centres across Spain, the United States, the United Kingdom, Portugal, France, Germany, and China.

The Urban Art Cycle will continue with Krisztina Molnár in Plaza Virgen del Pilar in Los Montesinos on 24 October. The artist views art as a tool for education, connection, and transformation. As the founder of Comando Margarita, a project initiated in 2010 in Alicante, she believes in using art to educate, connect, and revitalise forgotten spaces. Her recent work in Mutxamel aims to create safe school routes through colour, messages, and community participation, promoting more active and healthy mobility.

The cycle will conclude on 7 November at Carrer Industria, 48 in Orxeta with Chokone (Juan Aragonés), a graduate in Fine Arts and a professional designer. This artist from Villajoyosa has been involved in graffiti and artistic creation since 1995 as a hobby and has developed numerous projects throughout Spain, combining various techniques and visual languages.
