The final day will showcase a variety of literary activities, featuring prominent authors such as margarita yakovenko, elena medel, carlos bardem, and jorge volpi.

The day’s programme will take place primarily in the Josefina Plá tent, beginning at 10.30 am with the presentation of ‘Luces y sombras del amor’ by José Manuel de la Torre Montenegro, published by Círculo Rojo, and featuring journalist pía peñagarikano.

At 11.00 am, the family-friendly theatre show ‘Triplette’ by the Catalan company LaBú Teatre & Cris Clown will be performed in the plaza of the Palacio de Formación y Congresos. The literary presentations will continue at 12.00 pm with marcos hormiga presenting ‘Patricio Anís’, published by Mercurio, alongside journalist eduardo garcía rojas.

At 12.30 pm, bibiana candia will present her book ‘Lar’, published by Alfaguara, with literature professor libertad morales. The Josefina Plá tent will also host the presentation of two publications at 1.00 pm: ‘La hija del viento’ by binta claire and ‘Travesías’ by José naranjo and juan luis rod, both edited by the Consejería de Presidencia del Gobierno de Canarias.

The afternoon will feature a contemporary circus performance titled ‘Mahmud y no solo Mahmud’ by Punto Cero Company at 5.00 pm in the Sala Sinfónica of the Palacio de Formación y Congresos. This event is recommended for audiences aged 12 and over and will be free with prior reservation.

The evening’s literary highlights will begin at 6.15 pm with margarita yakovenko presenting her book ‘Ocupación’, published by Seix Barral. This work reflects on her grandfather’s death in the Ukrainian city of Tokmak, occupied by Russian forces in 2022, and explores themes of war, displacement, and identity through personal memory, history, and fiction.

At 6.45 pm, elena medel will present ‘Todos mis pecados y la mitad de mi dolor’, also published by Seix Barral, in a discussion moderated by journalist nayra bajo de vera. This novel examines power dynamics, academic hierarchies, and class differences through the lens of a literature professor nearing the end of his career.

At 7.15 pm, jorge volpi will participate in ‘El escritor y tú’, conversing with claudia neira, director of the Centroamérica Cuenta festival. Volpi, known for works like ‘En busca de Klingsor’ and ‘Una novela criminal’, will discuss his literary journey and his exploration of the intersections of history, politics, science, and society through fiction.

Finally, at 8.00 pm, carlos bardem will present his latest work ‘Triángulo’, published by AdN, in a session with journalist manuel riveiro. Bardem, an accomplished writer and actor, is known for his novels ‘Alacrán enamorado’ and ‘Mongo blanco’, which critically examine power relations and social conflicts.

The fair will conclude with the recital ‘De acero inolvidable’ at 8.30 pm, blending humour, poetry, and live music to explore the complexities of traditional masculinity. Actor fernando gil, recognised for his role in the series ‘Machos Alfa’, will be accompanied by Argentine musician fernando egozcue.

This year marks the 36th edition of the Fuerteventura Book Fair, organised by the Centro Bibliotecario Insular under the Fuerteventura Council’s Department of Culture, with collaboration from the Canarian Institute of Cultural Development and the Vice-Ministry of Social Welfare, Equality, Youth, Childhood, and Family of the regional government.
