The Councillor for Culture, Pilar Bosch, alongside Roser Sanjuan, director of the Centre d'Art la Panera, and Oriol Bosch, technician at the Morera Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, has unveiled the autumn programme for Cultura:Lleida. This initiative aims to make culture accessible to everyone, featuring numerous performances equipped with accessibility services, relaxed functions, accessible signage, and easy language programmes, among other initiatives.
Until the end of the year, Lleida's cultural offerings will focus particularly on literature and established unique programmes such as L'Art a l'Horta. The schedule will also include high-quality performing arts, essential annual musical events like the 33rd edition of Jazztardor, major concerts, popular music, audiovisuals, workshops, and activities for all audiences.
The launch event, held at the Teatro del Escorxador, was attended by sponsors of Lleida's cultural programme, as well as representatives from municipal cultural facilities, the Arts Foundation, and local organisations involved in programming activities. Bosch highlighted the extensive cultural offerings available in the city and the high quality of activities, noting that 2025 saw the highest levels of cultural activity and attendance, with 110 programmes, 1,331 activities and performances, and 463,279 attendees, excluding private events like Magní.
"The most notable change is the diversification of participation," Bosch stated.
Regarding the autumn season, she emphasised the council's commitment to making culture accessible to all, asserting that “culture is an indispensable right” that allows individuals “to guarantee the right to think and dream.”
Accessible performances and events
In the realm of performing arts, various shows will offer accessibility services such as audio description (AD), hearing assistance (AA), magnetic loops (BM), and subtitling (SUB). Upcoming performances include Perfectos desconocidos on 16 October and El elisir d'amore by Gaetano Donizetti on 8 November at the Teatro de la Lonja. The Teatro del Escorxador will also introduce accessibility services for Göteborg by Jordi Casanovas on 21 November and Permagel by Dagoll Dagom and BARC COOP on 12 December.
Additionally, on 18 October, a new edition of L'Art a l'Horta will take place at the Celler de Sanui, featuring the show Les filigranes by Tandor and Paxton and jazz by the Andreu Giró Quartet, as part of the Jazztardor festival. This international jazz festival in Lleida will run until 27 November, showcasing both emerging talents and established names in the genre.
Diverse musical offerings
At the Auditorio Municipal Enric Granados, the focus remains on diversity in programming, encompassing popular music, heritage, contemporary creation, early childhood, and major symphonic choral repertoires. Highlights include La Ludwig Band (Catalan pop-rock), Trio Freixas (chamber music), UNER · NIN3S (electronic & chamber & choral), Mozart's Réquiem (symphonic choral), and Alicia, el concierto de las maravillas (family concert) by the Ninnus company, which will feature a relaxed performance tailored to the needs of individuals with functional or sensory diversity.
Literary activities and exhibitions
Autumn also marks a season of literary activity in Lleida, with a new edition of the Literary Awards, including the 43rd Josep Vallverdú Essay Prize and the 31st Màrius Torres Poetry Prize, commemorating the 90th anniversary of the Spanish Civil War through literature. This year, a symbolic tribute will be held at the awards ceremony in memory of Josep Vallverdú, who passed away earlier this year.
The final edition of the poetic cycle Vespres en Vers will be dedicated to Gabriel Pena and Txema Martínez, culminating in a closing event on 25 November. The Water Museum will host a dramatic reading of La Infanticida, alongside ongoing free guided monthly tours of the museum's spaces. The Morera will inaugurate the exhibition Club 49: La modernidad vigilada (1949-1970), showcasing works by prominent artists. Furthermore, the Centre d'Art la Panera will present a new exhibition programme featuring four proposals available until 7 February 2027.
The Cultura:Lleida programme is sponsored by various companies and can be accessed online via the Lleida City Council and the Culture Department's websites.
