Logroño is set to be explored in a new light with the launch of the initiative 'between weekdays everything tastes better'. This programme encourages visitors to discover the city from Monday to Thursday, allowing for a more relaxed experience while enjoying its wineries, gastronomy, commerce, and lifestyle.
Developed by the City Council of Logroño in collaboration with local wineries, the initiative also involves the participation of the La Rioja Hotel Association, the La Rioja Hospitality Association, and the La Rioja Travel Agencies Association, with support from the Federation of Companies of La Rioja (FER). The aim is to position Logroño as a prime enotourism destination throughout the week.
“Thanks to the collaboration and efforts of various entities, we are taking a step forward in consolidating Logroño as a reference enotourism destination,” said Miguel Sainz, a representative of the City Council of Logroño. “This initiative is an important step towards experiential tourism, tailored to the tastes and needs of each traveller.”
'Between weekdays everything tastes better' builds on the ongoing collaboration between the City Council and Logroño wineries, which began in 2020. This partnership has already led to various initiatives, including WOW, which linked winery visits with key cultural resources related to wine.
The current collaboration is formalised through an agreement that has facilitated the development of new promotional materials and actions. The inclusion of hotels, restaurants, and local travel agencies represents a significant advancement in this partnership, aiming to create a cohesive experience for visitors where wineries, gastronomy, accommodation, and municipal resources are integrated.
This initiative caters to couples, small groups, and companies seeking unique incentives, with tailored proposals based on their interests, dates, and availability. Experiences typically include a combination of two nights’ accommodation, dining, and a visit to one of Logroño's wineries, along with opportunities to explore cultural resources such as the Rioja Culture Centre, Espacio Lagares, and the Calado de San Gregorio.
Participating wineries include Bodegas Ontañón, Bodegas Viña Ijalba, Bodegas Olarra, Bodegas Campo Viejo, Marqués de Vargas, Arizcuren Bodega, and Viñedos y Bodegas Franco-Españolas, each offering unique insights into the history, production, and culture of wine in Logroño.
Various hotels and restaurants in the city are also part of the initiative, including Hotel Carlton Rioja, Hotel Gran Vía, NH Logroño Herencia Rioja, and F&G Logroño, as well as eateries like Ajo Negro, Juan Carlos Ferrando, La Cocina de Ramón, and La Tavina.
“The participation of these establishments allows us to create a comprehensive stay centred around wine, gastronomy, and the city, with various accommodation and dining options tailored to each visitor's preferences,” said Borja Eguizábal, representing Logroño wineries.
The initiative offers two packages: the Special Package, starting from €250 per person, includes two nights’ accommodation, a winery visit and tasting, a gastronomic experience, and access to municipal enotourism resources. The Premium Package, starting from €600 per person, provides a more exclusive experience with private visits, special tastings, high-end dining, superior accommodation, and options for private transfers or exclusive guides.
With 'between weekdays everything tastes better', Logroño's wineries and the City Council aim to highlight an alternative way to travel: choosing weekdays to enjoy a less crowded city, allowing for a more leisurely exploration of its offerings and the people who inhabit it.
