On October 9, 2026, Madrid's Mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, along with Álvaro González, the delegate for Housing Policies, and Borja Fanjul, the councilor for Moncloa-Aravaca, attended the raising of the national flag by ceremonial police at the Pepe Domingo Castaño roundabout, which provides access to the Valdemarín neighborhood. This event was held in celebration of Día de la Fiesta Nacional (National Day).
The flag, measuring 500 by 750 centimeters and hoisted on an 18-meter tall mast, is part of a renovation project for the roundabout carried out by the municipal council of the district, with an investment of €100,000. The previous design has been replaced with a more ornamental one, utilizing sustainable gardening criteria that significantly reduce water consumption.
The new design features a mosaic made up of flowering plant beds and surfaces of various colored aggregates, along with a three-dimensional sign displaying the neighborhood's name.
