Manresa city council honours centenarian palmira cubero masferrer

The councillor for social rights and the elderly of Manresa, Mariona Homs Alsina, visited Palmira Cubero Masferrer on Monday afternoon to congratulate her on her 100th birthday. On behalf of the city council, she presented a bouquet of flowers and a commemorative gift.

The meeting took place at Palmira's home in the Guix neighbourhood, where she was accompanied by some family members. Born in Manresa on 15 October 1926, Palmira is a widow of Fernando Alcañiz and is the mother of two children, Enric and Fina. She is also a grandmother to four grandchildren—Vanessa, Gemma, Gerard, and Anna—and a great-grandmother to three great-grandchildren: Jan, Arlet, and Martí.

In her working life, Palmira was employed at the Perramon and Badia ribbon factory until her marriage, after which she dedicated herself to family care, a role she has always valued highly. Throughout her life, she has been known for her culinary skills. Currently, she enjoys knitting and playing parxís, a traditional Spanish board game.

Despite her advanced age, Palmira generally maintains good health and continues to appreciate the small joys of daily life. With this visit, the Manresa city council aimed to pay tribute to Palmira Cubero Masferrer on such a special occasion and to share in the joy of reaching a century of life with her and her family.
