Approximately 1,150 security personnel will be deployed by the Government Delegation in Madrid for the UEFA Champions League match between Atlético Madrid and Manchester United, scheduled for tonight at 21:00 at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano stadium.
The match has been classified as high-risk by the Permanent Commission of the State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Sport. This classification necessitates additional security measures, including enhanced ticket sales protocols, fan segregation within the stadium, and strict access control.
Security forces will increase their preventive measures, particularly regarding the monitoring of fan behaviour, in coordination with all relevant stakeholders involved in the event and the safety of attendees. The operation will include agents from the National Police—drawn from various units including the Intervention Police Unit, Special Cavalry Unit, Provincial Information Brigade, Canine Guides, Underground Brigade, and Mobile Brigade—as well as officers from the Civil Guard Traffic Division, Madrid Municipal Police, SAMUR-Civil Protection, the Fire Brigade, Red Cross personnel, and security staff from the football club.
Additionally, the Metro service will see an increased presence of security personnel. It is anticipated that around 3,400 English fans will attend the match. To facilitate the work of security agents, attendees are advised to arrive early to pass through the established security checks.
