Moscas de la información 2026 celebrate journalism in Girona

The Girona branch of the College of Journalists held the 2026 Moscas de la Información awards on Wednesday afternoon at the Cultural Centre La Mercè in Girona. Established in 1988, these awards are presented annually to recognise excellence in journalism.

Representatives from various institutions attended the ceremony, including Miquel Noguer, President of the Girona Provincial Council; Lluc Salellas, Mayor of Girona; Sílvia Paneque, Minister of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition; Pere Parramon, Government Subdelegate in Girona; Gemma Geis, Second Vice President of the Girona Provincial Council; and deputies Jordi Masquef, Pere Garriga, and Bea Esporrín.

During the event, Jordi Grau, President of the Girona branch of the College, announced the winners. Francesc Sánchez Carcassés, artistic director of the F'Estiu music festival, received the prestigious Mosca Grossa award, expressing his surprise and gratitude amidst a warm ovation from attendees. David Torras, Director of Communication at Girona FC, was awarded the Mosca Borda, marking the first time in the history of the Moscas de la Información that an individual has received this accolade for two consecutive years, although no representatives from the club were present.

Additionally, the Mosca de Sant Narcís was awarded to singer and composer Sílvia Pérez Cruz, with her achievements highlighted by Sánchez Carcassés and her mother, Glòria Cruz. The Mosca del Colegio was given to journalists Josep Víctor Gay and Angels Bronsoms, both with extensive careers in journalism. Jordi Bosch praised Gay's contributions, while Rosa Gil read a heartfelt tribute to Bronsoms, written by Ita Fàbregas.

Gay joined the Girona Provincial Council in 1991, where he was instrumental in establishing the Emili Massanas and Burcet Image Archive, which later evolved into INSPAI, the Centre of Image.

The evening also paid tribute to Gaditos Farjas Montoya, a historic voice of Ràdio Olot, who passed away earlier this year, and to Pep Collelldemont, a long-time member of the College who died unexpectedly in late 2025. Miquel Riera delivered a eulogy in their memory.

This year, all award recipients received a sculpture by artist Pia Crozet, who created a piece of acrylic featuring three large blue flies encapsulated within. The event concluded with a traditional group photo and a relaxed gathering in the cloister of the Cultural Centre La Mercè, allowing attendees to reconnect and discuss the evening's events.
