The Alfonso Viller Football Ground in Quintanar de la Orden has recently opened a new football museum, aimed at conserving and showcasing the history of the sport in the town, while recognising the contributions of those who have helped its development over the years.
This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Sports Department of the Quintanar de la Orden Town Hall, the CD Quintanar football club, and the local Veterans Football Association. The idea originated from player Carlos Molina, who proposed a new use for numerous forgotten football memorabilia, a vision that has now come to fruition.
The museum is designed for both residents of Quintanar and visitors, allowing them to learn about and celebrate the sporting achievements of local teams. Through photographs and historical objects, it highlights the journey of generations of players who have been part of Quintanar's football history.
Among the exhibits are trophies, plaques, pennants, paintings, photographs, newspaper clippings, and mementoes from significant events, including the participation of CD Quintanar in the Copa del Rey. Personal items belonging to footballers provide a more intimate glimpse into the sport's history.
The exhibition primarily features trophies and memorabilia from Hueso Quintanareño, A.D. Santa Gema, Sporting de Quintanar, CD Quintanar, and the Veterans of Quintanar, reflecting the diversity and evolution of local football over time.
To bring this project to life, former players, past presidents, and fans have collaborated, helping to recover an important part of the town's sporting memory. The Football Museum will be open on days when CD Quintanar plays home matches, offering an opportunity to explore and keep alive the footballing history of Quintanar de la Orden.
