The municipal library network of Piélagos, which includes the Francisco Sota library in Renedo, the Condes de la Mortera library in Mortera, and the Francisco Llata library in Liencres, will organise a solidarity campaign from 23 to 30 October to benefit the Cantabria Food Bank.
Carmen Bedoya, the Councillor for Culture, explained that this initiative is part of the activities planned for Library Day, celebrated on 24 October each year. Through this campaign, the municipal libraries aim to reinforce their role as open spaces for the community, encouraging user participation in a collective solidarity action.
Bedoya emphasised that the campaign seeks to raise awareness about the existing needs in society, promote solidarity and social responsibility, and foster values of collaboration and mutual aid. Additionally, it aims to connect users with the work carried out by social entities.
In this way, the Piélagos library network expands its cultural and educational role to become a new space for community participation, commitment, and support.
