The Ayuntamiento de Piélagos will celebrate Library Day this month, which takes place annually on October 24, with a program of activities hosted at its municipal facilities in Renedo, Mortera, and Liencres. The events will feature storytelling sessions, children's workshops, reading clubs, recommendation tables, and other proposals.
Carmen Bedoya, the Culture Councillor, emphasized that this initiative aims to highlight the role of the municipal libraries—Francisco Sota in Renedo, Condes de la Mortera in Mortera, and Francisco Llata in Liencres—as open spaces for the community, providing access to culture and knowledge, and serving as meeting points for residents.
Bedoya noted that the programming is designed not only for regular users of these services but also for those who may be visiting for the first time, including children, young people, and adults.
Activities Planned
In line with this initiative, the three municipal libraries will feature thematic tables focused on Halloween for both children and adults, as well as a literary recommendation tree. Additionally, on October 24, they will collect food donations for a charitable cause in exchange for a bookmark created by the libraries themselves.
