On October 9, 2026, the Concello of Vigo is advancing with the third detailed study in the Samil area, encompassing five parcels that together cover almost 10,500 square meters. These actions are part of the ongoing development of the PXOM (Plan Xeral de Ordenación Municipal), which aims to improve urban planning in the city.
Mayor Abel Caballero announced this morning the progress in transforming the beachfront area of Samil, thanks to the PXOM development. The Urban Planning Management will report next week on the initiation of the detailed study for the five parcels near the roundabout connecting to Avenida de Europa.
The objective, according to Caballero, is to organize the implementation of this project, focusing on the volumes and design of the spaces. The grouping of the five parcels proposes the construction of three structures, with a maximum height of two floors above ground.
This marks the third detailed study initiated along Avenida de Samil. Caballero also celebrated the “exceptional” expected tourist influx for the upcoming weekend, with an average hotel occupancy rate of nearly 90%: 88% on Friday, 89% on Saturday, and 87% on Sunday.
The mayor praised the evolution of tourism in the city towards a more balanced seasonal distribution, a trend he will advocate for at the sixth annual Tourespaña Convention, scheduled for October 22 in Zaragoza.
