The Local Government Board has approved a project to renovate the Pintor González Santana roundabout in plaza de América, which includes replacing the existing fountain with a new illuminated one. The initiative, agreed upon with the municipal group Vox, has a budget of €846,520 and is expected to take six months to complete.
Infrastructure councillor Cristina García stated, “This is a commitment we have to the residents that will provide total accessibility to the area while also renewing and aesthetically improving the surroundings with the new fountain.”
The project involves the complete renovation of the roundabout, including the new fountain, as well as the redevelopment of sidewalks and the road surface. The existing fountain will be replaced with a curvilinear design featuring illuminated jets and circular, illuminated jets arranged like a crown, along with a water sheet over the new fountain basin.
Additionally, the project will renew the asphalt on several streets that currently have deteriorated surfaces and will adapt pedestrian crossings to enhance accessibility.
