Regional government highlights the significance of premios pávez in spanish cinema

David Gómez, the regional delegate in Talavera de la Reina, has underscored the commitment of the Castilla-La Mancha government to culture and cinematic talent, as well as its collaboration with the premios pávez, a prestigious film festival that has established a significant presence in Spain's film circuit. This statement was made during a press conference to announce the XIII International Film Festival of Talavera de la Reina, which will take place from 16 to 24 October 2026.

Gómez praised the efforts of the festival's organisers, noting their dedication to enhancing the event each year, evolving from its initial short film festival to a well-established fixture in the Spanish festival landscape. He stated, "In recent years, our regional government has invested in the audiovisual industry as an economic driver, and we are pleased to have increasingly supported this festival, which not only seeks continuity but also aims for improvement with each edition."

He assured the festival's organisers of the Castilla-La Mancha government's ongoing support, emphasising that such initiatives cannot thrive without institutional backing. The values promoted by the International Festival of Talavera de la Reina, including equality, diversity, and solidarity, were highlighted by Gómez as key aspects of the premios pávez. He remarked, "Cinema and audiovisual culture have always been a significant force for social transformation, and the values championed by the Talavera film festival align with the principles guiding the government of Emiliano García-Page."

Additionally, Gómez referred to innovative proposals like the 'Elevator Pitch' initiative, which reflects the recent growth of the audiovisual industry in Spain. He noted the importance of incorporating a business perspective into both short and feature films.

Finally, Gómez emphasised the close relationship between the premios pávez and the city of Talavera, stating that during the festival days, the atmosphere is filled with cinema and the spirit of the premios pávez. He concluded, "Talavera comes alive around the pávez, energising the social, cultural, and associative life of the city."
