Regional government promotes cinema as an educational tool through collaboration with CiBRA

The regional government of Castilla-La Mancha is promoting cinema as an educational tool, fostering inclusion and transmitting values through its collaboration with the CiBRA festival. This was emphasised by Carmen Teresa Olmedo, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports, during a press conference held at the regional capital's town hall.

Olmedo stated that the festival provides a platform for teachers, students, and audiovisual professionals to connect, featuring initiatives such as the Film and Education Days, Film Encounters, MiniCiBRA, and the inaugural Filming Marathon. These activities aim to inspire vocations, encourage creativity, and introduce cinematic language into classrooms.

The XIII Film and Education Days, scheduled for 23 and 24 October, will address critical issues such as emotional health, bullying, inclusion, and equality through audiovisual media. Productions like ‘Invisible’, ‘Compañeros’, ‘The boy in pink trousers’, and ‘Pioneras. They just wanted to play’ will serve as discussion points to reflect on the challenges faced by children and adolescents, equipping teachers with new tools to tackle these topics in the classroom.

Olmedo also noted that CiBRA represents an opportunity to nurture young talent in Castilla-La Mancha and engage new generations with the film industry. The Film Encounters, featuring professionals such as Enrique Gato, Emiliano Otegui, Hugo de la Riva, and Eulàlia Carrillo, along with the Canon Marathon ‘Seven days, one short’, will allow students to gain firsthand insight into the processes of audiovisual creation and production.

In this context, the Deputy Minister of Culture remarked that these initiatives demonstrate that cinema is not only a cultural expression but also a field for training, professional development, and creating opportunities for the youth in the region.
