The Prat del Roure restaurant and bar in Escaldes-Engordany will undergo a change in concessionaire after nearly 13 years of operation. The current management has decided not to renew the contract, which expires on 30 October, citing difficulties in finding and retaining adequate hospitality staff.
Staffing has become one of the major challenges in the hospitality sector, making it increasingly difficult for establishments to operate effectively. Following a selection process involving four candidates, the local council has chosen a new concessionaire who will ensure the restaurant operates year-round and offers continuous kitchen service throughout the day.
The new concessionaire will pay a rental fee of €4,300 and will hold the concession for a period of 10 years. Rosa Gili, the mayor of Escaldes-Engordany, commented on the transition, stating, "It marks the end of an era. We are grateful for the years of service provided by the current management. Now, we look forward to a new chapter for Prat del Roure, with the expectation of a varied gastronomic offering available throughout the day, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, especially during events. Importantly, the new management has indicated they will not close for holidays."
