The Peña Flamenca de Ronda has unveiled the XI edition of the Concurso de Cante Flamenco and the II Certamen de guitarra, named after Paca Aguilera, aimed at promoting flamenco among the youth. The event was presented by Jesús Vázquez, the first deputy mayor, and Margarita Pavía, the municipal delegate for universities, who expressed their support for the initiative.

Paco García, the spokesperson for the peña, highlighted the success of last year's competition, noting the positive reception of the newly introduced guitar category. Francisco Morilla, the president of the peña, thanked all sponsors and the Ronda City Council for their ongoing support of cultural activities.

The competition will take place on 6, 13, and 20 November, with the final scheduled for 4 December at 21:30. Registrations are now open, and further details can be found on the peña's social media channels. Prizes will be awarded as follows: €1,500 for first place, €1,000 for second, and €500 for third. The guitar category will have a single prize of €500.

Entry to the eliminatory rounds is free, and the peña encourages all residents of Ronda to attend and enjoy the performances by participating artists. Jesús Vázquez emphasised the importance of fostering flamenco among young people through this competition, praising the peña's efforts to promote this traditional art form.

Margarita Pavía reiterated the cultural significance of the peña's work, noting that their established competitions hold considerable prestige both nationally and internationally.
