Ronda's sports department exceeds 1,500 users in sports schools and offers diverse activities

The municipal sports department of Ronda has reported over 1,500 users enrolled in its sports schools, alongside a wide range of activities for the community. Bernardo Crespo, the municipal sports delegate, provided an overview of the 2026/2027 sports season, noting the high participation rates and the effective operation of the sports schools and the municipal indoor swimming pool.

The swimming pool currently has 929 users out of the 1,075 available spots, while the sports schools have registered 657 participants from a total of 687 places. Crespo mentioned that while there are waiting lists for certain time slots, there are still available spaces in other periods, particularly in the swimming pool, due to varying demand throughout the day.

Crespo expressed gratitude for the dedication of the professionals, coordinators, caretakers, and maintenance staff within the sports department, whose efforts have allowed for adjustments to schedules and availability to meet the needs of users and staff alike.

The municipal sports offerings run from early morning until late at night across various facilities, including the El Fuerte Sports Complex, the Sports City, the El Burgo road sports centre, the La Dehesa pavilion, and the San Francisco neighbourhood facilities.

In addition to municipal activities, the department collaborates with local sports clubs and associations and works with educational institutions such as Martín Rivero, Rodríguez Delgado, and Gonzalo Huesa to develop educational activities.

Beyond the 1,500 users in the municipal sports schools, aimed at children and young people aged 5 to 16, there are over 1,500 athletes associated with clubs and organisations that utilise municipal facilities. Notable entities operating in these spaces include CD Ronda, the Athletics School, Club Harman, Team MAD, Pincho Level Up, KM1, the Petanque Club, CB Arunda Hawks, and the Jiu Jitsu Club of Ronda, among others.

Crespo highlighted that the high demand, the expertise of professionals, and the effort to maintain affordable prices contribute to the consolidation of sports practice in Ronda and its surrounding areas.
